The You-Can Building System provides a complete turn-key housing-kit system, which is based on a unique fast-stacking, interlocking, modular block system of pre-shaped elements, using Cellular Lightweight Concrete (CLC). The system has specifically been designed to combine an affordable housing solution and a simple and straightforward construction process, with a housing concept that is characterised by strength of structure, durability, low maintenance requirements and high aesthetic and environmental standards.

Considerable cost savings are realised in the construction of the You-Can houses as compared to conventional building techniques and the need for skilled labour has been cut out to a very large degree.  In fact, the whole set of complex tasks that normally has to be performed on the construction site, is pre-empted by the intelligent design of the You-Can building elements. This guarantees a high-quality product of high aesthetic value and overcomes existing construction restrictions present in South Africa, amongst others due to a lack of skilled labour and the limited accessibility and infrastructure of rural areas.

By combining a high-quality house with low building costs, the system not only makes high quality housing affordable, it also presents an economically and socially sustainable solution for the housing markets in South Africa and the African region.  A full feasibility study has been conducted to establish both financial and technical viability of the You-Can Building System. Detailed financial projections, including cost price calculations, and a Technical Appendix are available for perusal.

You-Can has established patent rights and compliance with all legal requirements. The You-Can building system is SABS-approved and is fully ready to be introduced into the housing market. A blueprint of the production unit has been developed, which means that the system is fully ready for production and subsequent roll-out.
